Reflection #107

 Summary: Today we wrote a short poem based on what we read on Tuesday. We also had to pick an image from online to write the poem about, whether to represent a theme or illustrate an image in the poem.

Reflection: I mean, descriptive imagery is really fun when I GET TO CONTROL IT. So this one was enjoyable, because I got to choose the scene. And today was a very “walking home from school on a slightly rainy and uneventful day” day.

Evaluation: I was worried to write another poem because I don’t actually like writing poetry (it just feels weird and pretentious for me), but this kind was better suited to my taste.

Reveal: I’m tapping in for the SAT rematch this weekend. I did a reading practice test today for it and i got a 770 out of 800. Although, the math came in at 520, so I do need to work on that.

Reflection #27

 Summary: Today we finished doing the benchmark test from yesterday. As you intended, we only left one question for today, being the extended essay question. Or, at least I was supposed to. I had to do both 19 and 20, so I only had around 25 minutes to write a full essay. Reflection: Given that I only had 25 minutes, I was glad to see that the topic was something I knew off the top of my head: US Foreign Policy. Side note: taking AP Gov and APUSH have helped me a lot more in other classes than I would have thought. Evaluation: I am abysmal at English MCQs. However, I believe that I am actually pretty good at writing, which is why this test frustrated me. Why should I be given a 40/100 for only knowing how to express the content I’ve learned in a way other than that which the admins think I should be able to? In my opinion, that approach squanders individuality of the student.  It is what it is.

Reflection #29

 Summary: Today what I was supposed to do was finish the Benchmark test from Monday. What actually happened was, I finished the test on Tuesday, and I didn't have anything to do for the whole class. It might have benefited me to know this information on Tuesday, however "it is what it is". Reflection: I wish I had known or been told that we would've spent today finishing the test. In that case, I would've taken more time on the MCQ section, and probably gotten a better score than... what I got.  Evaluation: I am glad the test is over. Ever since 6th grade, when they started making me do the benchmark tests, they've always felt like a chore. I did learn from this one, however, that I can write a full essay in 30 minutes. Weirdly enough, I actually did that again today in AP US History. Reflection #100

 ONE HUNTRESD Summary: Today we were actually able to get work done, as opposed to last week, when all I had in the class was 55 minutes. But this time, we worked on preparing for this week’s EOC exams, and I myself worked on the 2 assignments I missed over my 4-day vacation with the orchestra class. Reflection: I may fail this test, I may not; I honestly couldn’t tell you where I think this’ll go. BUT! I did the math yesterday, and I can get as low as a 60 on the EOC and keep my A. Evaluation: Newsela bad commonlit bad, teaching good study guide good  Reveal: THERE IS SOMETHING IN MY NOSE IT HAS BEEN HERE FOR THREE DAYS I CANNOT GET IT OUT!
