Reflection #106

Summary: Today we didn’t have WiFi, so we had to do a stock poetry assignment which I actually thought was interesting. The poem was “The Great Figure” by William Williams. Reflection: I really like the atmosphere of a rainy night on an empty road in a city. I don’t know why. I think it’s just cozy- aside from the implication of frequent crimes. Evaluation: I can’t say I’m surprised that you just had a poem in reserve for a day like this, but at least it was a good one. I’m also proud of the drawing I did, even if it was only because I was bored of studying and wanted to do something with my hands. Reveal: I’m honestly starting to feel better about the AP Exams. I’m studying like a *REDACTED* this week and it’s already looking better for me.

Reflection #105

Summary: Today we had to do another thing about college. This time it was about schools we might want to go to, as opposed to jobs we might want to work. Reflection: Even though they’re all pretty out there for me, I chose Georgia Tech, Emory, and University of Georgia for my examples. The only real reason is that I’ve toured them, but other than that it’s just the first 3 I saw on the list. Evaluation: I can’t say I haven’t done this exact same series of assignments for at least 3 other teachers, but O don’t really see anything else we could be doing to occupy our time after the EOC (except maybe, like, studying for the real final exams) Reveal: Next week is going to SUCK

Reflection #104

Summary: Today we had a sub🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ it was ms. silber. For the assignment, we had to do another Newsela article. This time, it was about global warming and how we measure time. Reflection: I’m not gonna lie, I did all of the activities in about 4 minutes. I had to finish before the bell, because the last thing I want to do, for 96% of my day, is Newsela. And you know what, I didn’t even fail. Evaluation: This class means a lot less to me after the exam. It’s not because of you, the same thing happened with biology and coordinate algebra in 2022. I just want my scores back now Reveal: Certain unnamed AP Government teacher is driving me insane i cannot take another textbook assignment

Reflection #103

Summary: Today we finished the assignment on budgeting from yesterday and started a new one about career exploration that I also finished. Reflection: I don’t know why, but the way you had us do it today worked a lot better than those stupid surveys they have us do in advisement. Maybe it’s because the first thing I saw for my profession is that it pays a MEDIAN $100,000 a year (MONEY). But I actually texted my mom about getting a master’s degree because I didn’t see anything I dislike about occupational therapy (except for the NBCOT test). Evaluation: I’m glad I could figure that out. If not specifically occupational therapy, I at least know the area I’m interested in now. And also Yohance’s detective thing is intriguing. Reveal: When do we get EOC tests back

Reflection #102

Summary: Today we did half an assignment that we were supposed to do on the block day we aren’t going to have. The assignment was answering questions about a video about someone living off $7.25 an hour in America. Reflection: Even if the jobs are marketed to high-schoolers and drop-outs, I still think they should be able to live on it. When the minimum wage act was passed, that was the intention behind it.  Evaluation: You said the point of the video was to promote a higher minimum wage, but it just came off to me as a CNN interview with someone on the poverty line. I may be wrong, I don’t know. Reveal: Now is the time where I get to be stressed about AP Exams instead of EOCs!

Exam!!!!

Reflection #101

Summary: Today I finished up the Newsela assignments from the last week. Despite getting a 75 on all 3 quizzes, I feel like I did pretty well. Reflection: Now that all the stuff in this class is done, I have to do a bunch of physics work, and some stuff for US History, and then I’m good to lose my mind for testing season! Evaluation: NO MORE NEWSELA HOORAY 🇧🇸🇧🇸🇧🇸 Reveal: I think it’s convenient that this is the class I miss for a whole week, seeing that I’m taking the exam tomorrow.

Reflection #100

ONE HUNTRESD Summary: Today we were actually able to get work done, as opposed to last week, when all I had in the class was 55 minutes. But this time, we worked on preparing for this week’s EOC exams, and I myself worked on the 2 assignments I missed over my 4-day vacation with the orchestra class. Reflection: I may fail this test, I may not; I honestly couldn’t tell you where I think this’ll go. BUT! I did the math yesterday, and I can get as low as a 60 on the EOC and keep my A. Evaluation: Newsela bad commonlit bad, teaching good study guide good  Reveal: THERE IS SOMETHING IN MY NOSE IT HAS BEEN HERE FOR THREE DAYS I CANNOT GET IT OUT!

Reflection #99

During spring break, the amount of productive things that I did depends on who you ask. If you ask someone who actually does things and works and adds to society, I didn’t do much. But if you ask me, I had a lot of fun over the break. For the first few days, I just took time to relax after arguably the worst stretch of the school year (January-April). But on Wednesday, I went on a tour of Emory University in search of my future college. I thought it was really nice, but the whole time, I kept thinking about the 1400 SAT average the students there have, and the 11% acceptance rate of the school. I liked the school a lot, but I had to remember that Emory is a reach school for a reason. Then, on Friday, I toured UGA, which is a considerably better option for my college application. I didn’t like it that much at first, mainly because of the sheer size of the campus, but the tour guide told us that the campus is mostly divided based on the classes you take in a certain year. Freshman ...
