Reflection #98

Image
Summary: Today we did the assignment from yesterday where we write a narrative that takes place before, during, or after the story we’ve been reading. Reflection: I need a break from writing these bro my week has been so busy and the schedules were all messed up for most of it that the reminder I have set for every day at 1:05 doesn’t end up being completed until like 4pm because I’m preoccupied. Evaluation: Anyway, I’m glad there’s no assignments over the break. We both know I wouldn’t have done it until the 8th if there were. Reveal: Spring break will be my time to lock in. Final season will never defeat me again (AP Exams will be the last thing I ever do)  anyway have a good break, the bob dylan is complementary

Reflection #97

Summary: Today we had an equally short class period as Tuesday, because we had to go to do a mock EOC test. I think I started working on the assignment for the short story we read the other day, and I finished it within 30 minutes because it was actually really easy since I’ve read the whole thing. Reflection: The fake test was pretty easy. We had a few questions about a passage and then a prompt for an argumentative essay about driverless cars. And I know I’m not supposed to tell you about this stuff, but I just want to keep both of our careers on their toes for excitement Evaluation: do we have to do an assignment tomorrow i mean it’s the last day before spring break πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ Reveal: I locked in and wrote 1,348 words worth of book work for AP Gov today

Reflection #96

Summary: Today we worriedly asked if the paragraph assignment was mandatory or not. After that, we analyzed the story we read last night. Reflection: I actually did read the whole story last night. It wasn’t that bad because it was pretty interesting. Mr. Shiftlet’s motives are really confusing though. Evaluation: There’s not much to do in the way of instruction when each class is 35 minutes long, so there’s nothing to say here. Reveal: this assembly boring asl bro

Reflection #95

Summary: Today we started reading a really long short story for the activity we’re going to do tomorrow about writing a narrative.  Reflection: I still have to finish reading the story today, but I remember last time I did this, it came to me pretty easily as I wrote it. I’m not saying I won’t put any effort into this, but I’m interested to see if I’m actually good at this. Evaluation: I’m fairly confused on the point of reading a 10-page story if the passages on the actual test are only a few paragraphs. Also for the rock issue, I seriously think a pickaxe would work. Reveal: i used most of the class to write a summary of Richard Nixon lmao

Reflection #94

Summary: Today we did a quiz on all the stuff about claims that we’ve done this week. It covered all the stuff from parts of a claim, to what to look for in a claim, and the different types that you can make. Reflection: I swear on my life I don’t remember you saying to finish the second paragraph for homework. But what matters is that I did it in the first 10 minutes of class, so whatever. Evaluation: The quiz was really easy; I got a 90 and I only missed 2 because I didn’t know the difference between claims of fact and value. Reveal: I got a 1270 on my SAT, which you know, but I’m really glad I did, because no matter what happens on the next 2 tests I take, I will be able to send at least a pretty good score for myself. I know someone who got a 1420, though, which is certainly only because she got lucky.

Reflection #93

Summary: Today I finished the evidence sheet from Tuesday and finally submitted that. We also wrote a paragraph (or 2) taking information from that evidence sheet in efforts to get better at citing evidence. Reflection: The main thing- if anything- that I learned today is that I can’t handle criticism! I will be mentioning this to my shrink. πŸ˜„ Evaluation: I write really slow so I knew I probably wasn’t going to finish writing the paragraphs. And to be fair, they were really long paragraphs. Reveal: blehehhhhshshhshdbdnjdbdjdjrbjdjxhjeodjdbdjisbehdjdbxjxb

Reflection #92

Summary: Today we worked on writing evidence for claims we wrote based on 2 articles. I also finally finished the identifying claims assignment from FRIDAY Reflection: The identifying claims sheet took too long to do methinks. But at least the evidence thing makes more sense to me now. That isn’t to say I haven’t completely understood everything we are learning right now for the last like 3 years, because I have. Evaluation: Personally I think I’ll be fine on the EOC. Even if I’m not (I am), I have such a high grade in the class that the stakes won’t be that high regardless. I’m not saying I’m gonna be complacent though.  Reveal: I’m still thinking about the morality of using the word “methinks” a few sentences ago.

Reflection #91

Summary: Today we went over a worksheet on creating claims, instead of identifying them. The sheet gave us a bunch of examples, and we had to make a claim for and against them. Reflection: After doing this assignment, I went back to the sheet from Friday, which I didn’t know how to do, and I think I’ve got it now.  Evaluation: As I just said, I only really understood how to identify a claim after I wrote a bunch of them. So, I think you should- in the future- do the writing claims sheet before the identifying claims sheet. Reveal: I have so much work this year good googly

Reflection #90

Summary: Today we worked on a big worksheet about finding claims in an article. The worksheet had us find 10 different claims, and determine the type of claim, and a possible counterclaim. Reflection: I didn’t finish the assignment πŸ˜…πŸ˜… Grades are due today and I don’t know if I’ll finish it by the end of the day, but they’re only due for the next progress check, and not anything that actually affects me, so I think I can do it over the weekend. Evaluation: I think we could’ve done fine with one claim per topic as opposed to 2 or 3! Reveal: today has been really good for me and terrible for everybody else πŸ˜„πŸ₯Ή

Reflection #89

Summary: Today the teacher was gone. We were told he was on a pilgrimage to Belize. Reflection: The sub mentioned an assignment for today but I didn’t see anything in Canvas, so I’ll ask about it tomorrow.  Evaluation: :3:3:3 There’s nothing to evaluate Revela: R:)! j$$2!2!

Reflection #88

Summary: Today we did another Newsela assignment! Not to sound self-centered, but I’m certain I must have inspired you yesterday with my blog. I liked this one more, because this is an issue I am very passionate about. Reflection: The same people that say children should be allowed to work 12-6am shifts are the ones saying minimum wage shouldn’t be enough to live a good life because “it’s a job for teenagers and high schoolers.” Like, what does that even imply? Are jobs like convenience store clerks and McDonalds workers just a profession we can throw away in society? Because if it’s not important enough to fulfill the function of a job- being to live a sustainable life with the money earned from working- then why should anyone bother with it? Evaluation: The only question I missed this time was one which I originally had the right answer for then changed it because the right answer was worded weird. 75πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜… Reveal: Today sucks

Reflection #87

Summary: Today we read an article about technology and its advances in society to work on being able to cite textual evidence. The purpose of this was to prepare for that point on the EOC in April. Reflection: However to do so we used NewsEla, which is a website i have a personal vendetta against. Not because of you, but because of my IST teacher last year. I won’t name names (Mrs. Stewart), but she used NewsEla almost every day and I got like 10 quiz grades in as a 50 or a 75, simply for missing 1 or 2 questions. That’s why I hate the website- not to mention the 75 I got today for missing one (1) question. Evaluation: You said it was elementary knowledge to be able to cite evidence from text, and I know it’s important. But I feel like we could figure it out on our own. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, though. Reveal: i’ve been listening to hard noise rock all day i literally cannot think

Reflection #86

Summary: Today we did more of the test! I finished it yesterday! Instead of doing allat I just got angry at SAT practice questions instead! Reflection: I got like 10 of 15 questions wrong on the SAT practice. I don’t even think I’m *that* bad at math, it’s just I was 45 questions into the set and they were using the hardest ones. But I am a lot less confident now. Evaluation: The 38% I “””got””” on the benchmark MUST be re-evaluated! This is a fabrication, and I will not stand for this!  Reveal: I know I’m gonna take this test again in May but I’m still really worried for some reason

Reflection #85

Summary: Today I took another test. We did nothing other than this. This is the third sentence. Reflection: On the test however, I was pretty locked in. I finished the first FRQ (Question 8 or 9) at like 9. And that left me with 40 minutes left, which was fine, until there were 15 minutes left and I found out I had to write 4 more FRQs. You said we would finish tomorrow, but I felt like that would be admitting defeat, so I wrote every single one of them in 10 minutes. Evaluation: Benchmark is boring. However we do not have homework because of it, so that is good. Reveal: I have too many things to do now and wish I was 10 years old at Universal for the summer.

Reflection #84

Image
Summary: Today we read a poem- not by Langston Hughes. It was called “We Real Cool”, and it was by someone named Gwendolyn, whose last name I do not remember. Reflection: I felt like the use of the word “cool” to denote things that are illegal or bad came off as someone trying to act like they know what kids do nowadays. In my circle, everything we talked about is considered uncool. But again, that’s just me. Evaluation: Instead of writing an evaluation, can I just put a picture of the table on the back because I thought it was funny? Reveal: SAT on Saturday, going to either be dead by Monday or come to school in diamond jewelry and shake everyone’s hand as they walk in
